For the adventurous souls, there is a pyramid of hay to climb.

Oh, and if you are into cute, you must check out the petting zoo. Miniature horses, goats, and baby goats. All of them are your best friends … if you have a little food in your hand.

And of course, there are pumpkins and pumpkins and more pumpkins to choose from, all at the Vancouver Pumpkin Patch at Velvet Acres Gardens.

“I love it. It’s just rewarding. Putting things in the ground, and digging in the earth, I love it. I love looking at all the stuff we’ve harvested,” said Crystal Boldt of Velvet Acres.

And she loves having the community celebrate at the family farm every year during October.

It is just one of many farms throughout Southwest Washington that are having pumpkin patch festivities throughout the month.

The Patch in Woodland, located at 612 Whalen Road, is open. So, too, is Bi-Zi Farms at 9504 NE 119th Street. Pumpkin Lane at Pomeroy Farm at 20902 NE Lucia Falls Road in Yacolt is always a prime destination in October.

And many, many more.

Feel free to add your favorite places to visit in the comments.

And all who are planning to celebrate the season at regional farms and pumpkin patches are advised to check each farm’s website, Facebook page, or call in advance. Some farms might be closed, or some might have changed their hours or availability due to the pandemic.
