Online fundraiser available to assist family of deputy

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is mourning the loss of deputy Patrick Morgan, 32, who passed away Tuesday, June 30, after a nearly two-year battle with colon cancer.

The sheriff’s office announced Morgan’s death in a social media post, describing him as a husband, father, veteran, friend, deputy and a leader.

“After a nearly two-year battle with stage IV colon cancer, Patrick passed away Tuesday night, surrounded by loved ones,” CCSO stated. “He was just 32 years old.”

According to the sheriff’s office, Morgan continued serving his community throughout much of his illness.

“Throughout his illness, he faced each day with remarkable courage,” CCSO stated on social media. “Even while undergoing treatment, he continued coming to work whenever he could, bringing kindness, positivity and a genuine desire to be with his team. He was a valued member of our Sheriff’s Office, and we are humbled by his strength, resilience and dedication to his community.”

Morgan joined the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in 2023 after previously serving with the Ridgefield Police Department, the Clark County Jail and the United States Army.

The sheriff’s office added that Morgan’s greatest pride was his family.

“He was a devoted husband to Lauren and a loving father to their two young sons,” CCSO stated. “His family was the center of his world, and everything he did was rooted in his love for them.”

CCSO also thanked community members who supported Morgan and his family during his battle with cancer.

“Many of you have followed Patrick’s journey over the past two years and have stood beside him, his family and our agency with your prayers, encouragement and support,” CCSO stated. “For that, we are deeply grateful.”

The city of Battle Ground also expressed condolences following Morgan’s death.

“On behalf of the city of Battle Ground and the Battle Ground Police Department, we extend our deepest condolences to Deputy Morgan’s family, friends and everyone at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office during this incredibly difficult time,” the city wrote in a social media comment. “We are thinking of all those who knew and served alongside Deputy Morgan, and we share in the sorrow of this loss. Our hearts are with your entire agency and everyone whose lives were touched by Deputy Morgan.”

Battle Ground Police Chief Dennis Flynn told The Reflector he was grateful that multiple law enforcement agencies escorted Morgan on his final trip during the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 1.

Ways to support Morgan’s family

Community members wishing to continue supporting Morgan’s wife, Lauren, and their two sons can contribute through an online fundraiser at tinyurl.com/bd25vu8m.

The Wenatchee Blue Family, a nonprofit supporting families of law enforcement officers in the Wenatchee area, has also launched a challenge coin and patch campaign in honor of Morgan. The Wenatchee Blue Family posted on social media that Morgan had a passion for collecting coins and patches.

“To show support for his family, we’re collecting them from law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatch, corrections, military and other first responder agencies to give to his family,” the Wenatchee Blue Family stated on social media.

Agencies, and fellow collectors wishing to participate can mail donations to Wenatchee Blue Family, 630 Valley Mall Parkway, Suite 271, East Wenatchee, WA, 98802.

The Wenatchee Blue Family asks to include the agency name and, if one would like, a short note.

“Every coin and patch will serve as a reminder that Patrick’s family is surrounded by a first responder and military community that stands with them today and in the years to come,” the Wenatchee Blue Family stated.
