In reply to pete. "The Clark County Charter Review Commission ended up being a group of 15 Democrats. (Did this influence any of their decisions?) They proposed (and voters approved) moving the one councilor elected countywide into a district of their own. This necessitated the creation of a fifth district from the current four. That commission created a map that changed boundaries of council districts (making 5 out of 4). They put three of the existing county councilors in one district, (District 4). All three of those councilors were (in the last election) stated members of the Republican Party. When the Charter Commission was asked about the coincidence of putting three councilors in one district they said it was unintentional and they didn’t realize what they did." While I’m in favor of “as compact as possible” districts (in an effort to avoid gerrymandering), this revision was an effort by progressives to fool the voters into setting up a districting program where the left could “dilute” the conservative inclinations of the majority of the voters in the county. Sadly, their efforts seem to be proving effective with this revision that slipped through as an “improvement” in the “county charter” (that initially failed to create a leftist majority). Unfortunately, the progressive success will ultimately cause Clark County to become less-and-less habitable … and will begin to resemble Portland more and more.

For the Nov. 2021 map in the voter's guide, the only councilor whose district was drawn in a way that they remain in their district as the sole incumbent was Councilor Lentz, who ran for office as a democrat. Information about the impact of the map on voter's opportunity to re-elect candidates, or lack of opportunity to re-elect, was not included in the Nov 2021 voters guide.

Voters countywide elected these councilors. The new 5-district map printed in the voter’s guide in Nov. 2021 was drawn in a way that removed County Councilor District 2 from their district and lumped 3 other councilors into a single new district.
