Merck & Co.: Achieved $62.47 billion in revenue and Rs. 16.49 billion in profits, with $30.5 billion spent on research and development. Keytruda, the company’s flagship medication, generated $25 billion in revenue, making it the largest drug in the world by sales.
Novartis: Made Rs. 12.73 billion in profits and invested $9.747 billion in research and development. Entresto, its best-selling medication, generated $6 billion in sales.
CVS Health: Led the industry by revenue, achieving $363.24 billion. The pharmacy services segment was the most profitable, contributing $187 billion in 2023.
Pfizer: Despite a 41.69% drop in sales from 2022 to 2023 due to decreased demand for COVID-19 products, Pfizer projected revenues between $58.5 billion and $62.7 billion for 2024. The company also received a record number of nine new molecular entity approvals from the FDA in 2023.
Johnson & Johnson: Projected operational sales to increase by 5-6% in 2024. The company’s pharma division saw consistent growth, with revenue rising from $45.6 billion in 2020 to $54.8 billion in 2023.
