Area resident Anna Miller believes the answer is yes

Eileen Quiring O’Brien has spent decades serving the people. As a legislator, she worked on budgets, revenue, transportation, education, health and human services, justice, and economic development. Her leadership and dedication to public service earned her national recognition as a Toll Fellow.

Her experience didn’t stop there. In 2016, Eileen was elected to the Clark County Council, and just two years later she was elected County Chair. During her years of service, she helped develop budgets, establish policy, solve problems, and make decisions affecting every resident of Clark County. Eileen kept the promises she made to the voters. One of those promises was to vote no to tax increases.

The County Auditor is responsible for overseeing elections, public records, licensing, and important financial processes. It is a position that requires integrity, sound judgment, proven leadership, and a commitment to serving the public.

One of the candidates is someone who has spent years working inside the Auditor’s Office. Is that person automatically the best choice to lead it? No, I don’t think so. At a time when confidence in government and especially confidence in our election process has been challenged, a new set of eyes, fresh perspective, independent judgment and accountability is needed.

An independent review can identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen accountability, and help restore public confidence. Eileen favors an independent audit to be certain that all processes are working properly and that the office provides excellent service.

Eileen grew up here. She graduated from Battle Ground High School. For Eileen, Clark County is home. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Human Resources and was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus. I’ve watched Eileen serve our community for many years. Eileen is compassionate and loves to give back. She has served on numerous boards that help people in need. One notable is the Executive Director of the Robert D and Marcia H Randall Charitable Trust, in support of the creation of the Randall Children’s Hospital.

She has consistently demonstrated integrity, thoughtful leadership, and a willingness to make difficult decisions in the best interest of the people she serves.

Those are the qualities I’m looking for in our next Clark County Auditor, and I’m proud to support her. I hope you will join me in voting for Eileen Quiring O’Brien for Clark County Auditor.
