🎧 I-5 Overpass Crash Injures Two in Clark County
The vehicle’s two occupants were extricated by responding fire personnel and transported to a local hospital
On Thursday (July 30) at about 3 p.m., an American Medical Response (AMR) unit witnessed a single‑vehicle rollover collision on NE 78th Street at the I‑5 overpass. The vehicle’s two occupants were extricated by responding fire personnel and transported to a local hospital.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle, a gray 2025 Toyota RAV4, was traveling southbound on the I‑5 offramp to NE 78th Street when it failed to slow for a red traffic signal. The vehicle continued over a traffic island, struck a pedestrian signal, and traveled south before colliding with an overpass column. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved.
The driver and passenger sustained serious injuries and are currently in stable condition at the hospital. Traffic Homicide Detectives responded to the scene, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation. Traffic diversions were in place for approximately five hours while investigators examined the scene and recovered the vehicle.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) for assisting with traffic control in the area and ensuring a safe working environment for investigators.
