PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center put in lockdown after shooting at nearby medical facility

Shooting resulted in injuries to two people; one male, one female

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center was placed in lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a shooting at a nearby medical facility.

Just after 1 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 22), police were called to a reported shooting at 505 NE 87th Avenue in Vancouver, WA., a medical facility adjacent to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Security officers put PeaceHealth Southwest into modified lockdown with most entrances closed.

The shooting resulted in gunshot wounds to two people, one male and one female, who were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest’s Emergency Department for treatment. No names, conditions, or other details about the shooting are available at this time. 

The situation was safely contained, and both the 505 building and PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center were all clear and no longer in lockdown about an hour after the report of the shooting.

The 505 NE 87th Ave. building is owned and managed by Pacific Medical Buildings Real Estate Services. PeaceHealth Southwest offers numerous services in the 505 Building including its Vision Center, Oncology and Infusion, Maternal Fetal Medicine, PeaceHealth Medical Group Family Medicine, and Sleep Disorders Clinic.
