With the mismanagement of our common public areas, vis a vis the homeless, forest management et al, we DO NOT NEED fireworks sales. The city and county regulate all sorts of things, badly. We have a huge fire risk, especially around Camp Bonneville.
Resist the money, for whatever reason, and do the right thing.

What neighborhood does this pro fireworks councilor live in? ‘Safe and sane’ does not happen in any neighborhood of anyone I know. There are mortars going off for weeks before and weeks after any holiday that allows fireworks and at all hours of the day and night. People buy or create bombs to set off with impunity because there are too many incidents to enforce directly before, on, or after a fireworks holiday or they may only set off one or two bombs at 3 am on a random day, which may be too quickly discharged to identify and catch the perpetrator. People have to just be subjected to this unsafe and insane noise and air polution for as long as there is a supply of fireworks available. Fireworks are unhealthy and unsafe. We need our county leaders to advocate for everyman not just for businesses who sell fireworks!

If the last sentence comment is true, because this is never an issue raised on the ballot, and this is what the county is going with, then a lot of property owners voting voices are silenced.
