Starting Friday night, a WSDOT contractor will close the ramp from southbound I-5 to southbound I-205 at Exit 7 to complete lane striping on southbound I-5 and I-205

VANCOUVER – Travelers who use the southbound Interstate 5 ramp to southbound I-205 in Vancouver should plan to use a different route during the final full closure of the exit.

Starting Friday night, July 31, Washington State Department of Transportation contractor Kerr Contractors Oregon, LLC, will close the ramp from southbound I-5 to southbound I-205 at Exit 7 to complete lane striping on southbound I-5 and I-205. Crews will also install signs and guardrail near the exit.

Closing this section of highway and the ramp allows crews to complete the work in less time and reduce the overall impact on travelers.

What to expect

From 10 p.m., Friday July 31 to 10 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 2:

• The ramp from southbound I-5 to southbound I-205 at Exit 7 will fully close.
• All southbound lanes of I-205 between the I-5/I-205 split and Exit 36 for Northeast 134th Street will close.
• All lanes and ramps on southbound I-205 just south of Exit 36 for Northeast 134th Street will remain open, including the on-ramp from Northeast 134th Street to southbound I-205.

During construction, the nighttime speed limit on southbound I-5 through the work zone will be reduced from 70 mph to 55 mph. Travelers should expect delays and slower traffic through the area.

Queue warning system

To help improve safety and reduce delays, crews will use a queue warning system ahead of the work zone. The system warns drivers when traffic is slowing or stopped ahead, giving them more time to react and reducing the risk of rear-end crashes.
