Vancouver Police investigate injury collision

The motorcyclist, a 38-year-old male, was traveling at a high rate of speed

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating a collision that sent a motorcyclist to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday (Feb. 2) at about 2:47 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to a motorcycle vs.vehicle collision at SE 164th Ave and SE 15th St. in East Vancouver. The motorcyclist, a 38-year-old male, was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on SE 164th Ave, approaching the intersection of SE 15th St.  Early indications are the motorcyclist attempted to stop at the red light, lost control, and collided with a vehicle traveling westbound on SE 15th St. through the intersection at SE 164th Ave.

The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital for life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative with investigation. At this time, speed on the part of the motorcyclist appears to have been a factor in the collision.

Southbound SE 164th Ave and east and westbound 15th Street were closed while emergency personnel were on scene.
