At 5:45 a.m. Thursday (April 30), Vancouver firefighters were dispatched to 410 W. 12th Street, a house converted into the business NewFocus Financial Group. First-arriving fire crews found the small, three-story house with heavy smoke conditions and fire on the first floor and in the basement.

The fire was initially attacked from the outside and when more crews arrived, they were sent inside to completely extinguish the blaze. The extinguishment was made more difficult due to the construction type of the structure; the walls contained no fire blocking which allowed the fire to run from the basement up inside the walls. The fire was under control in the residence-turned-business in about 10 minutes.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause. Five fire engines and one ladder truck with a total of 19 firefighters were on scene to fight the fire. No injuries were reported and no one was occupying the business at the time of the fire.
