The chamber celebrates the contributions of Latinos nationally and locally. This year, Dr. Ruiz is one of five recipients to receive the Bravo Award. He is being recognized for his work to improve the health of the Latino community. Dr. Ruiz received his award at a special Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Friday, Sept. 6.

Dr. Ruiz was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, is bicultural and bilingual, an original member of the first youth mariachi in the United States, and a former professional musician.
