PeaceHealth Urgent Care team to heal Carter Park

Volunteers to continue their months-long cleanup and restoration project on Sat., March 23

VANCOUVER — A team of volunteers from PeaceHealth Urgent Care – Memorial will donate time Sat. March 23 to continue their months-long cleanup and restoration project of Vancouver’s Carter Park at West 33rd Street and Columbia in Vancouver. The team will be hard at work from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

“We want our neighbors in the Carter Park area to know that we’re not just focused on improving the health of the people who come to see us for care,” said Ryan Cole, RN – Nurse Manager of PeaceHealth Urgent Care – Memorial. “We want to improve the health of our whole community, and that includes working to create a safe, attractive space for people to gather and enjoy the outdoors.”

The PeaceHealth work crew will include health care workers, security officers, housekeepers, and front office staff. It will be the team’s sixth volunteer day at Carter Park, and the first of 2019. “So far we have focused on a lot of maintenance,” said Cole. “Lots of scrubbing, weeding, raking, and removing debris. This spring we intend to start planting flowers and shrubs. It’s really rewarding because the neighbors have been very appreciative of our efforts.”

PeaceHealth Urgent Care – Memorial has worked closely with the city of Vancouver to coordinate the Carter Park cleanup project. “The city has been very supportive, providing us with supplies and guidance,” said Cole. “Caring for Carter Park has been a wonderful way for our caregivers to come together outside of work to get to know each other better. Vancouver has a number of parks ready for adoption. I highly recommend it as a great thing for other organizations to get involved with.”
