County councilors updated county code 2.09.040, rules and procedures, during a public hearing last night. The change will go into effect on May 17.

Previously, council hearings were held at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month and 10 a.m. on all other Tuesdays.

Hearings will continue to be held in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

During March and April, there was significantly more public involvement during the council meetings which was the goal for making the change to evening hearings.

The council’s weekly meeting, known as council time, has been updated to 1 p.m. Wednesdays. Most council work sessions will continue to be scheduled on Wednesday mornings.

Council meeting schedules and documents are available on the county website, www.clark.wa.gov/council-meetings.

Council hearings are videotaped and can be viewed on CVTV channels 21 and 23 and on the website www.CVTV.org.
