The deputy, who has not been identified, suffered minor injuries and has been released from a local hospital

VANCOUVER — A Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputy was struck by a fleeing vehicle early Monday morning. The deputy, who has not been identified, suffered minor injuries and has been released from a local hospital.

At approximately 3 a.m., a Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy contacted a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of NE 75th Street and NE 104th Avenue.  The vehicle, which is described as a dark in color older model 2-door car, was parked along the shoulder of NE 75th Street with two females standing beside the vehicle.

The deputy pulled in front of the vehicle and exited his patrol car, approaching on foot.  The female driver and passenger quickly re-entered their vehicle and accelerated at the deputy.  The deputy was struck by the vehicle in his lower extremities.

Deputies pursued the vehicle, which drove recklessly, disregarding traffic control devices and reaching speeds of nearly 100 mph.  The vehicle was last seen southbound on Interstate 205, crossing the Glenn Jackson Bridge toward Portland at a high rate of speed.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.  The deputy’s name is not being released at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Jayson Camp at jayson.camp@clark.wa.gov.
