Two new locations accepting unused, leftover paint in Clark County

VANCOUVER – Residents now can recycle unused or leftover paint at all Miller Paint and Parkrose Hardware stores in Clark County.

Miller Paint, 111 N.E. 164th Ave., and Parkrose Hardware, 8000 E. Mill Plain Blvd., have joined the county’s Paint Take-Back program, and are accepting latex and oil-based paint for proper disposal at no cost.

Nine paint stores in Clark County now accept paint during business hours:

  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 10811 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd.
  • Miller Paint, 14300 N.E. 20th Ave.
  • Miller Paint, 9609 N.E. 117th Ave.
  • Miller Paint, 2607 N.E. Andresen Rd.
  • Miller Paint, 111 N.E. 164th Ave.
  • North County Hardware, 40600 N.E. 221st Ave., Amboy
  • Parkrose Hardware, 16509 S.E. 1st St.
  • Parkrose Hardware, 8000 E. Mill Plain Blvd.
  • Rodda Paint & Décor, 7723 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd.

These transfer stations also will accept unused or leftover paint for free on most weekends:

  • Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 N.E. 117th Ave., 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • West Van Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old Lower River Rd., 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant St., 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. third Saturday of the month

Latex-based paint dropped off at any of these stores or facilities is recycled into new paint. Oil-based paint is repurposed as an alternative fuel.

“There is growing interest in product stewardship,” said Kim Harless, who leads the Paint Take-Back program. “It’s great to see more stores interested in the lifecycle of what they sell and the Paint Take-Back program.”
