Tickets on sale now for Magenta Theater’s third annual fundraiser

‘All That Jazz’ performance set for Sat., July 13

VANCOUVER — “Fundraising is a perpetual activity,” said Jaynie Roberts, executive artistic director for Magenta Theater, located at 1108 Main Street in downtown Vancouver.  “Last year we held a successful campaign that contributed to the installation of new LED lighting, and this year we are attempting to upgrade our sound system as well as address some other technical needs.”

The fundraiser will be held Sat., July 13 at 6:30 p.m., at the Main Street location.  Tickets are now available for $65 each and include a complimentary drink. Patrons can choose from a selection of beer and wine, or a “Magenta Cocktail” created by Amaro’s Table.  Non-alcoholic options will also be available. Our neighbor to the south, Niche Wine Bar, will provide a sumptuous array of appetizers. Entertainment will feature live music by Ensemble Gitane, a subgroup of Vancouver-based The Ne Plus Ultra Jazz Orchestra specializing in the sounds of 1930s Paris. Band members include Sammuel Murry-Hawkins, band leader/flute/vocals; Twayn Williams, guitar; Hamody Hindi, guitar; James Cook, double bass; and Mary Rowell, violin.  Also included in the ticket is an opportunity for door prizes.

New to Magenta’s fundraisers will be an opportunity to dance to the live music, participate in speakeasy-style games, and a photo booth.  A sneak preview of the 2020 season will also be revealed during the course of the evening.

Magenta Theater’s annual fundraiser “All That Jazz,’’ will take place Sat., July 13 at the Main Street location in Vancouver.

Magenta Theater’s first show of the 2019 season was “Jeeves Takes a Bow” which was coincidentally set during the same time period as the fundraiser.  Attendees will likely see some costumed actors from that show participating in the evening. Attendees are highly encouraged to “dress for the event’’ in outfits they feel represent the ALL THAT JAZZ era.  Costumes are optional, but there will be a prize for the Best Dressed.
