VANCOUVER — Magenta Theater’s Rock Choir is turning one year old.  The company, located at 1108 Main Street in downtown Vancouver, launched its choir at the 2018 fundraiser, followed by a Christmas 2018 production.

Choir members and audience members urged Choir Director Erin Knittle to continue the program because finally Magenta had something that non-actors could participate in – and have fun.  So plans were made for an event featuring music from the youth of many of the choir members. — the 1970s. Music includes favorites from artists such as Queen, The Eagles, John Denver, The Village People, The Bee Gees and Styx.

The choir will perform for one night only, July 26 at 7:30 p.m.   Choir members include many familiar faces from the Magenta organization – ushers, directors, concessions workers, patrons and more.

“It’s a joy to see so many behind-the-scenes people stepping onto the stage and performing,” states company Artistic Director Jaynie Roberts.  “The theory behind our rock choir is that anyone can participate – even if they can’t read music. And there’s no grueling audition to frighten people away,” continued Roberts.

Choir members are providing their own costumes – many of which had been hiding in the backs of their closets for decades. The attached photos are an example of what audience members will see at the show.  The event is definitely very family-friendly.

Tickets for the event at $10 in advance and $12 at the door (if available).  They can be purchased on the company’s website, magentatheater.com/
