Friends of the Carpenter annual dinner and auction raises $106,705

The event was held Oct. 18 at Warehouse ’23 and welcomed over 200 guests

VANCOUVER — Friends of the Carpenter’s (FOC) annual dinner and auction raised a grand total of $106,705 to support its ministry of services, including a record-breaking $38,550 during the special appeal. The event was held Oct. 18 at Warehouse ’23 and welcomed over 200 guests.

“Friends of the Carpenter has truly turned a corner and we are headed in a great new direction. We followed-up our best ever Give More 24! fundraising event with our most successful auction in our organization’s history,” said Tom Iberle, executive director. “Most importantly, our guests responded favorably to our vision of a new direction when we introduced the creation of our Pre-apprenticeship program which will launch in 2020. And we are humbled to announce that following the auction, we received a six-figure bequest from a family at First Presbyterian Church.”

Organizers offered special thanks to 2019 sponsors, including Presenting Sponsor: Pacific Lifestyle Homes; Matching Sponsor: Basel Cellars; Gold Level Friends: Blue Star Transportation, BNSF Railway; Love Level Friends: Molina Healthcare and Davidson & Associates Insurance.

About Friends of the Carpenter

Friends of the Carpenter was incorporated in Vancouver in Oct. 1998 and began as a vision of a practical outreach of simple welcome and personal interaction between volunteers from the church and people living in poverty. Since the beginning, regular contact has been made with the homeless and poor persons of our community through woodworking events scheduled throughout the community and which, today, are held at FOC’s Friendship Center.

The mission: Friends of the Carpenter is a nonprofit, faith-based day facility that provides safety, structure and purpose for vulnerable members of our community. Learn more at friendsofthecarpenter.org.
