The race is on.  The year is 1872, and English gentleman Phileas Fogg abandons his orderly London life to attempt to travel Around the World in 80 Days, wagering a staggering 20,000£ that he can arrive back in London in time.

To raise the stakes still further, Fogg races not only against time but also against a Scotland Yard detective who is convinced that our hero is an infamous bank thief. Adapted from Jules Verne’s classic novel by Mark Brown, Around the World in 80 Days is a new telling for the whole family – transporting you from London to Bombay, Yokohama to San Francisco, on steamships and elephants, through typhoons, out-of-control trains and marauding American Indians. But this is no movie: the entire globetrotting story is told live on stage at Love Street Playhouse with an ensemble of only five actors.

Melinda Pallotta, producing artistic director of Love Street Playhouse comments, “What better way to begin our exciting 2020 season than with a fast-paced trek around the world. This is a perfect show for the whole family to enjoy together and discover the imagination and creativity of the theatre. We are delighted to be producing this adaptation of a classic story told in a completely unexpected way. Our audiences are going on an extraordinary trip without ever leaving southwest Washington.”

David Bareford, a Woodland native since 2012, came to southwest Washington from Chicago, where he designed the theatrical violence in over 200 professional productions over the course of 16 years. He was thrilled to find such a theatrical gem as Love Street Playhouse in his new home town. This is his third directorial journey at Love Street, after co-directing Robin Hood and The Talisman Ring with his wife and artistic partner Melissa Vickery-Bareford. David’s violence design work can also often be seen in Vancouver at Magenta Theater or Journey Theatre Arts Group.

Director David Bareford has assembled a talented cast of seasoned veterans for this exciting adventure – Adam Pithan of Longview, Hannah Mock of LaCenter, Alex Havens of Vancouver, Brian Reed of Vancouver and Myronie McKee of Vancouver.
