Metropolitan Performing Arts (MPA) invites you to their production of “Mermaid” directed by Jeffrey Puukka,  featuring students in their Acting 3 class. This performance is recommended for children aged 12 and older.

Beneath the ocean’s waves there is no death or pain or separation. Above, the modern world is beset with war, poverty and desire. On her sixteenth birthday, a mermaid rises up to the surface, leaving her childhood behind for ever when she falls in love with a mortal prince. She knows that she can no longer live at the bottom of the ocean- but must she destroy herself in order to be loved? A bold re-imagining of Hans Christian Andersen’s tale of love, loss and longing, transported to a contemporary setting.

Performances: June 1 at 7 p.m.; June 2 at 1 and 4 p.m.

Venue:  Metropolitan Performing Arts, 905 NE 68th St. #D, Vancouver 98660

Tickets:  Suggested donation of $5 per person at the door. Arrive 30 minutes prior to curtain.
