Seton Catholic looks to notch Trico League win Friday

Cougars travel to White Salmon to face the Bruins

Seton Catholic Cougars (3-2, 0-1 Trico)

Week 1: Seton Catholic 49, Toledo (Ore.) 18

Week 2: Charles Wright Academy 22, Seton Catholic 13

Week 3: Seton Catholic 39, Nestucca (Ore.) 25

Week 4: Seton Catholic 36, Elma 28

Week 5: Stevenson 27, Seton Catholic 7

Next: at White Salmon, 7 p.m. Friday

It turned into a 20-point game, but the Cougars were in this one almost the entire way. Stevenson is an undefeated team, yet Seton Catholic trailed by six going into the fourth quarter.

Didn’t get a chance to see this one, but here are some notes courtesy coach Will Ephraim:

What did the coach learn about his team in Week 5? “We need to work on team cohesiveness,’’ Ephraim said. “Still lacking maturity when faced under pressure.”

MVP on defense: Myles McGovern. “Stayed focused, did his job and then some,’’ McGovern said. “Made plays with his hustle. Saved several touchdowns.”

Thoughts on Week 6 vs. White Salmon: “Another big, aggressive team with more speed than Stevenson,’’ Ephraim said. “Will be tough. Stick to the plan and believe in each other, and we will increase our chances.”
