Another slow start for the Trappers, but there are “small successes” according to coach Steve Broussard.

Injury update:

James Durr, one of the top long snappers in his class in the Northwest went out with a scary looking injury last week. He left the field on a stretcher. His family reports he is doing better and is hopeful for a return to the field this season. The Trappers do not expect him to play this week, but this is good news.

Coach Speak:

What did Steve Broussard think about Week 5’s game? “We dig ourselves in a hole and then we’re digging back up hill. We gotta find a way to start faster, give ourselves a chance.”

MVP on defense: “I keep saying it every week,’’ Broussard said. “Nehemiah.” As in Nehemiah Polk-Rasheed.

Thoughts on Week 6 vs. Evergreen: “Give ourselves a chance,’’ Broussard said. “Don’t put ourselves out of it in the first quarter. Give ourselves a chance early and see what happens.”

Keep the focus: “Like I told our players, the results are still the same but you have to believe things are different,’’ Broussard said. “There are small successes. We still continue to play and fight until the end. I don’t see guys giving up. I don’t see guys quitting. For me, that speaks volumes. I know that things look the same, but there is some progress.”
