Union, Hudson’s Bay earn titles at elite girls wrestling tourney

Titans finished second in team race at Kelso Girls’ Invite

Allison Blaine and Krista Warren won individual championships at one of the biggest girls wrestling tournaments on the West Coast this weekend in Kelso.

Blaine from Hudson’s Bay claimed the 135-pound title and Warren of Union was victorious at 140 pounds at the Kelso Girls’ Invite.

There were more than 80 teams at the event, including a team from Las Vegas. Union finished second as a team. Yelm won the team title.

Eight other girls from Clark County placed in the tourney:
Second place: Annabelle Helm,Union (145 pounds).

Third place: Riley Aamold, Union (125).

Fourth place: Hikaru Abe, Skyview (105); Marissa Montano, Union (135), Brooklyn Wurm-Wertz, Washougal (140); Neveah Cassidy, Union (145).

Fifth place: Cece Sayler, Skyview (170)

Sixth place: Tori Craft, Mountain View (155).

Many of these finalists are expected to compete this weekend at the Clark County Wrestling Championships, to be held at Skyview High School.
