Vancouver Police investigate shooting in Hearthwood neighborhood

VANCOUVER — On Sun., Jan. 22, at approximately 4 a.m., Vancouver Police responded to the report of a shooting at a residence in the 14900 block of Northeast 5th Street, in the Hearthwood neighborhood.

According to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department, when officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male who was deceased. The deceased was identified on Monday as Ian P. McKay, 37, of Vancouver. According to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office, cause of death was a shotgun wound of the torso and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. Detectives from the Vancouver Police Major Crimes Unit are currently conducting interviews. A suspect, TJ Patrick Ferres, 55, was arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.

The parties involved are all known to one another and detectives do not believe there is any threat to the general public. The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
