Holiday events in Camas, Washougal canceled due to snowstorm

CAMAS — Sometimes, dreams of a white Christmas aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. The winter storm blanketing southwest Washington with inches of white, fluffy snow today — and maybe a sheet of ice tonight — has canceled two holiday events in the cities of Camas and Washougal.

The Holiday Sip & Shop event planned for tonight, Thu., Dec. 8, in historic downtown Camas has been canceled. The event, touted as “an evening of holiday shopping and merriment” was a fundraiser for downtown Camas events, cost $25 per person and was to include a double-decker bus ride and trip to the Georgia-Pacific paper mill’s interpretive center.

On the downtown Camas website, the Sip & Shop coordinators said they were canceling the event “with sad hearts … due to the winter storm” and that, although they had tried, they were unable to find a new date that worked for the double-decker bus, the volunteers, merchants and the paper mill.

“We are truly bummed,” the coordinators said. “But will will just have to do an extra fun one next year!”

People who purchased tickets to the Camas Holiday Sip & Shop event should look in their email for refund information.

In nearby Washougal, the annual Washougal Lighted Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting, which was scheduled for 6 p.m., tonight, Thu., Dec. 6, has been postponed due to the inclement weather. The parade and tree lighting is now rescheduled for 6 p.m., Mon., Dec. 12. For more information, click here.
