Seton Catholic hopes to christen new home with a victory

Cougars to play their first game on their home field Saturday

Week 1: Seton Catholic 49, Toledo (Ore.) 18

Week 2: Charles Wright at Seton Catholic, 1:30 p.m. Saturday

The Cougars had about a day or so to prepare for Toledo after a last-week schedule change. I’d say they did OK.

(This was a game I was not able to view, but it is my hope I will be able to watch future Seton Catholic games.)

A real home game:

Seton Catholic will play its first real home game Saturday. The program has never had a home field … until this year.

Coach Speak:

What did Will Ephraim learn about his team from Week 1? “We’ve learned that mental preparation during the week is key,’’ Ephraim said. “We really worked on focusing for this game after Friday Harbor cancellation. We only had one day to prepare for Toledo due to no practice on Tuesday due to bad air quality.”

Coach’s pick for MVP on offense: Running backs Taj Muhammad and Jonathan Stell. “Both demonstrated great vision and quickness,” Ephraim said.

Coach’s pick for MVP on defense: Aiden Kirby. “Made several key tackles and always seemed to be at the right place at the right time,’’ Ephraim said. “Relentless pursuit.”

Thoughts on Week 2: “Charles Wright seems to be an almost mirror image of us,’’ Ephraim said. “Good quarterback and receivers that could give us a lot of trouble.”
