BATTLE GROUND — Several schools in Battle Ground are running on a two and a half hour snow delay this morning, due to the threat of snow in the area.

The snow delay includes the following schools: Battle Ground High School, Tukes Valley Primary School, Tukes Valley Middle School, Summit View High School, River HomeLink and CAM.

Amboy Middle School and Yacolt Primary School are also on a two and a half hour snow delay.

Snow is not yet falling in the Vancouver metro area, but a National Weather Service alert posted at 3:40 a.m., Mon., Dec. 5, has a winter weather advisory in place through 1 p.m. today for the greater Portland/Vancouver metro areas, Battle Ground and other parts of north Clark County, and says snow may accumulate on valley floors this morning.

Snow may or may not accumulate, the Weather Service says, and will be “highly dependent on how fast roads cool off.”

Accumulations of one to four inches of snow are possible in regions that are 750 feet or more above sea level. Below that elevation, accumulations of one inch or less are expected.

The Weather Service cautions drivers to be careful, even if snow is not sticking, saying that “even falling snow may result in travel delays or accidents. If you must drive [this morning], provide extra time for travel and maintain space between vehicles.”
